DESCRIPTION:SSGA  will be holding its first Fork to Farm Day on Friday\, June 10 at the historic Oliver Kelley Farm near Elk River\, Minnesota\, and is inviting farmers who grow identity preserved and non-GMO crops to join us for this special event. \nFork to Farm Day provides opportunities to connect IP growers with each other\, as well with foreign buyers who will be interested to hear about your farms and your identity preserved practices. Those buyers are joining the event after participating in Northern Crops Institute’s Food Grade Soybean Procurement Course. SSGA has helped recruit participants to that course and is also assisting ASA WISHH\, which is bringing in a group from Myanmar. \nThe event will start with lunch at 1 pm CDT\, followed by networking and a soy food demonstration. IP B2B is a series of one-one-one matchmaking opportunities\, allowing food manufacturers in China the chance to participate in up to three virtual meetings with U.S. IP soya and specialty grains suppliers. DESCRIPTION:Biodiversity is an essential element of a healthy food system\, and yet just three crops (wheat\, rice\, and corn) provide more than 40% of the calories eaten worldwide. In this session\, Shane Frederick\, Manager of Strategic Programs for the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance will introduce how farmers and dietitians can work together to better integrate ancient grains into our food supply. Laurie Scanlin\, Principal Scientist at Ardent Mills will demonstrate how ancient grains have been adapted to the climate over time and will highlight consumer trends for ancient grains and innovative new applications for ancient grains. Her presentation will also review the importance of including more ancient grains from an environmental\, nutritional\, and economic perspective. Lastly\, Neil Doty\, Business Development Manager for Northern Crops Institute\, will reveal insights from the product development side on how foods can be reformulated with ancient grains\, and how dietitians can be a part of the solution.
