The increasing consumer demand for high-quality soy milk\, tofu and craft beers makes the Philippines an attractive market for SSGA exporter members. The Philippines has been and will be a significantly promising emerging market for U.S. IP soya and specialty grains\, showing an upward trend in the last decade. In 2020\, the Philippines imported about $3.24 billion of U.S. agricultural and related products\, including $59 million in soybeans\, $847 million in soymeal and $15 million in pulses.

DESCRIPTION:The U.S. Soybean Export Council and the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance are hosting a South Asia’s Food Grade Soybean Virtual Workshop Wednesday\, July 14 and continuing on Thursday\, July 15 at 16:00 Sri Lanka time. Registration is now open. \nSouth Asia represents a fantastic opportunity for diary analogs/alternatives. Dairy alternatives are one of fastest growing food sectors in the world and is expected to grow at a significant rate\, due to rising consumer demand for plant-derived products. \nA significant number of consumers opt for dairy analogues from soy for various health reasons\, or simply as a lifestyle choice.  Proven health benefits of soy\, an increasing vegetarian/vegan population\, environmental consciousness and increasing prices of milk are encouraging consumers to look at soy-based dairy analogues. \nSoy nuts are another product that can be promoted in these markets. Currently\, there is no such product in local markets except Nepal. All these markets have good snack consuming populations and soy nuts will fit in very well. \nAs a result\, this “Workshop on Opportunities for Food-Grade Soybeans” is intended to educate the participants on scope and opportunities for soy-based dairy analogues and soy nuts in these markets. \nVirtual seating is limited.
